The Making of In It Together

On today’s show Lori talked about the making of In It Together. She started off sharing about the unusual way the show started out in radio, how she co-hosted and guest hosted the Girard At Large show during her time at WLMW. She then told us about launching In It Together on WLMW and The VoiceAmerica Variety Channel. She shared about the industry leaders she interviewed, and the fast jump from airing one day a week to five days a week.

Next, Lori told us about the past show anchors she had the pleasure of working with, how they met and what they talked about. Then she told us about being able to do interviews at the last presidential election on Radio Row at the Radisson in Manchester. She then highlighted the current anchors and how they are trying to make an  impact. Finally, Lori told us about the new expansion and renovations as they occupy the entire top floor above Jacques flower Shop, and their hopes of launching Good News New England this year, and adding video and written content. 1269 Cafe’ Feeding People Physically And Spiritually

On today’s Compassion in Action, Mary Chevalier from 1269 Cafe’ returns to the mic to update us on how they’re serving people. She told us how the cafe’ got started, and how the majority of the people they serve are homeless, dealing with mental illness and substance abuse. Many are also living at the borderline poverty level.

The conversation continued about understanding what people want, instead of what we want for them. Mary then told us about some programs they are hoping to start and the people partnering with them. She also shared some of the basic needs the have.

Mary disclosed how they’re 100% volunteer run. Also, how they serve hot lunch four days a week from a Catholic Charities grant. Finally, she told us about the medical care Catholic Medical Center offers, and various community supporters.  Listen in and hear more about it.

1269 Cafe: Caring for the Homeless

Rai and MaryRai Chevalier, son of the founders of 1269 Cafe came on the show to share a teenager’s perspective of what goes on at the cafe’. He talks about the stigma behind how people see those who are homeless. Rai also gave us a story about how 1269 turned into what it is today.  Brent Clark, a regular volunteer at 1269 Cafe, shared about his experiences at the cafe and talked about his growth as a volunteer and active helper of the homeless, as Jeff Boutin hosted the segment.  In the final segment, Susan Foss talked about how she and her family first came into contact with the Cafe through the loss of her son and learned that he was a frequent guest. She also found out how they took care of him. Tune in to hear this touching story.

Recovery: The Isaac Experience

Lori and Jenn(Segment One) We were joined this morning by Jenn Lever of Little Leapers & Knowledge Keepers for Recovery Now.  They started by speaking about Jenn’s Recovery Now meeting last night.  We heard about Chasing the Dragon, which was a forum to inform the community about drug addiction.

(Segment Two) Jenn and Lori continued their discussion about Dylan Coleman and last night’s recovery meeting.  We heard about the stigma behind drug addiction and the encouragement that is needed in the communities.  Lori shared part of her testimony and we heard about finding your identity.


Joy: Hearing the Heart of God

Lori, Jane, John and Anita(Segment One) We were joined this morning by Anita Perry for Never Alone.  She introduced us to her guests John and Jane Fillmore, who shared their story about ministry.  We heard about their involvement with the 1269 Cafe and they spoke about the heart of God towards Manchester.


(Segment Two) John started the second segment by telling us about the Holy Spirit and Zion Christian Fellowship.  “We are equipped to do the work of the ministry,” Anita shared.  We heard about finding your place of ministry, whether it is in a church ministry capacity or not.


A Story of Abuse, Drug Use and Redemption

Jenn, Trisha and Lori(Segment One) We were joined this morning by Jenn Lever of Little Leapers and Knowledge Keepers for Recovery Now.  She introduced us to her guest Trisha Dalio, who started by sharing the tragic events of her childhood.  She spoke about abuse that she suffered and her run-in with substance abuse.  She also told us about the path to emancipation

(Segment Two) Trisha started where she left off in her story.  We heard more about her increasing drug use and and a safety concern that lead to a change in state.  We heard from Rich Boisvert of On Demand Staffing Solutions about addiction issues.  Trisha told us about her lows which lead to a turnaround in her life and her involvement with 1269 Cafe.

(Segment Three) Rich gave us an overview of On Demand Staffing Solutions before he talked about some issues that he experienced in his own life.  He spoke about the built-in accountability that is provided within On Demand Staffing Solutions and told us some of the expectations.  He then spoke about his relationship with Trisha.  Tune in to hear more.


Never Alone: A Transformed Life

Anita, David and Lori(Segment One) We were joined this morning by Anita Perry for Never Alone.  She and Lori started the segment by talking about transitional seasons and learning to be at rest.  They spoke about being content and about uncertainties in life.

(Segment Two) Anita introduced us to her guest David Alperovitz.  David told us about his time in the navy and photography school.  He shared about some of the challenges that he had experienced in life and we heard about an appreciation for life.  We also heard about the service that he is involved in within the church.


(Segment Three) In the final segment of the morning we heard about different upcoming ministries.  Anita told us about a prayer walk that she is involved in.  They talked about family and shared about the hope and encouragement that ministries can bring into lives.


The 1269 Community

Mary and JeremyWe were joined by Mary Chevalier of 1269 Cafe and her guest Jeremy Huth for Compassion In Action.  We started the segment by hearing Jeremy’s story.  He shared about a struggle that started at a young age and persisted for most of his life.  He spoke about what the 1269 Cafe is to him and we heard about it’s community.  Tune in for all of the details.
