Today, on It’s A Wonderful Life, Coach, Speaker and Executive Director of The John Maxwell Team, Marc Major, joined Lori to discuss how Great Leaders Don’t Dictate They Connect. They started off talking about Marc’s experience in management, leading mastermind groups, and coaching. They continued about the importance of getting to know people, not instilling fear in them, and creating a positive environment.

Next, they highlighted the importance of developing people skills, meeting new people and having wisdom when dealing with different types of people. Marc started off telling us “If it’s lonely at the top you’re doing it wrong.” Lori calls it the Martyr Syndrome, and Marc told us the most important person to lead is you.

Next, they highlighted having a heart to lead people, the right motives, and types of leaders. The continued about taking responsibility is the first sign of a leader. Also, The Three E’s of Leadership are: Environment, Equipping and Exposure. They started off talking about how we can get stuck and give up trying because we don’t know what we really want. Also, how it’s never too late to succeed, and we don’t need to ask permission.

Next they highlighted how to get out of our comfort zone, set goals, be creative and build your confidence. They also encouraged us to think beyond where we are, and realize there’s more than one solution. Finally, they told us not to be afraid to fail, because we can learn what doesn’t work.
