On today’s Storm Chasing, Ron Moore Jr. from The Storm Warning joined Lori to talk about the influence of history in forecasting weather. They started off talking about Ron’s 200 pieces of weather documents, books, and journals. Ron told us they don’t use these types of resources in today’s weather forecasting. He also highlighted how weather equipment used to be calibrated in more precise increments.

The conversation continued with how valuable the testimonies of historical scientists and weather watchers would be now, and how they could have a great affect on the way we predict extreme weather today. He mentioned how James Espy, Elias Lumis, George Washington Carver, and Matthew Fontaine Maury were important first sources to study.

Ron then told us how accurate tornado predictions have become. Also, a little history about the Climate Data Institute, Southern Missouri flooding and sink holes. Finally, Ron gave us a May forecast that shows cool, chilly, and damp days are ahead. Listen in and hear more about it.
