On today’s Personal Safety, Bob Boilard of Defensive Strategies joined Lori to talk about “Active Shooter Preparedness.” They started off talking about recent active shooter reports at Colgate University, that ended up being false. Bob also told us about a New Hampshire woman who blatantly lied about someone who was open carrying, and how she wasn’t held accountable. He expounded on how 911 operators know how to ask the right questions and how people should have consequences for falsifying reports.

The conversation continued about university emergency plans, and defining the difference between active shooters and other types of incidents. They shared about ALERRT, a training program for first responders. Then Bob gave some little known insights about Sandy Hook, and he highlighted ways to respond in an unlikely event. Also, why shooters target gun free zones.

The topic of FBI resources came up for preparing organizations with emergency plans. Bob then told us about an article, Surviving A Gunman’s Attack is on The Minds of Many, that the Union Leader wrote about him when he helped them with a Risk Assessment Plan. Finally, they talked about the San Bernadino shootings, and how Bob’s business exploded with people wanting more Active Shooter Planning and Workshops. Listen in and hear more about it.
