On Today’s Musings with Marnie, Marnie Wells from Gilead’s Balm, joined Lori to discuss another perspective of Labor Day 2017. They started off talking about the religious roots of Labor Day in light of Scriptures. Then Marnie told us work is four letter word that causes us to submit to something. They expounded on how Labor Day is meant to be a day to rest from all your works, but it’s not about doing nothing. Rather, it taking time to rejuvenate.

Next, They encouraged us to be mindful of other areas of life, and how work is supposed to support those areas, not replace them. They then started talking about 8 Principles of Biblical Work, and the creative aspects to solve the pains of humanity. They gave examples of creativity from history, and how trial and needs can stimulate it. They highlighted how Hurricane Harvey created opportunity for work.

They continued about how we all have our life’s work, so it’s not just about a job. Then Marnie shared a story of someone who came to Gilead’s Balm and learned what she was supposed to be doing. They continued sharing thatwork isn’t supposed to be a punishment. Also, that work helps us develop ethics, integrity, and character. Then they told us about Joseph and how he was promoted. They also reflected about when Stores were closed on Sundays, and when families ate dinner together.

Finally, they talked about how to raise a generation to value work, and they shared stories of how they taught their kids to enjoy work and receive a reward for doing it well. Listen in and hear more about it.
