On today’s It’s A Wonderful life, Coach, Speaker & Executive Director of The The John Maxwell Team, Marc Major, joined Lori to talk about the 5 Levels of Leadership, so people will buy into your leadership. They started off talking about the recent John Maxwell conference Marc attended and was honored at. They then addressed politicizing Joel Osteen’s responses about Hurricane Harvey disaster. They added how each leader has different gifts and calls. “Just because someone else’s leadership is different than ours doesn’t mean it has less value”, said Lori.

Next they talked about levels of leadership in business. Marc told us Level 1 is positional leadership where the leader may think people have to listen, but they need to grow as a leader. Level 2 is when people see that you value them. He then shared a story of how he built relationships as a manager of Rite Aid. He added that Level 3 is when we start to develop others into leaders, and knowing how to identifying the right people.

The conversation change to how we have to continue to grow at all levels. Then Marc told us to work from our strengths and developing a team around you where strengths compliment each other. He told us said Level 4 is where people want to be in relationship with you because you’ve invested in them. He added how DISC Assessments can be helpful, and knowing when to take the reigns to get things done on time.

Marc then told us Level 5 is someone who has been a leader for a long time. He also gave names of good leaders: Jack Welch, Mother Teresa, Bill Bilichick. Finally, they shared the importance of caring and having wisdom to being a leader. Listen in and hear more about it.
