On today’s Recovery Now, Jen Lever joined Lori to discuss recovery skills for anxiety, depression and addiction. They started off talking about an article based on the Book, I Want to Change My Life: How to Overcome Anxiety, Depression and Addiction, by Dr. Steven Melemis. They also shared about an article, How Trauma Can Change Your Life For The Better, by Jim Rendon. They told us most people who have gone through trauma can attest that theirs opened their eyes to what was really important.

Next, they mentioned their trauma helped them to become better versions of themselves. They then encouraged us to hope against hope as Lori shared part of her testimony of recovering after severe health issues and near death experiences. She also told us about being put on medication and her faith to get off in spite of the physical repercussions.

The conversation turned to recovering from the trauma, the close relationship between anxiety, depression and addiction, and how creating a new life helps with recovery. Jen then shared about the euphoria of addiction that mimics the high of relationship with God.  Finally, they shared about avoiding high-risk situations, being cognizant of our thoughts and looking for what works. Listen in and hear more about it.
