On today’s Musings with Marnie, Sharon Dancona joined Marnie Wells from Gilead’s Balm, and Lori, to talk about her son that was born with Cornelia De Lange Syndrome. They started off talking about the joy and heart-break of her son’s birth, and the vivid memories of the words spoken to her by the medical staff. Sharon then told us about her conscious decision to focus on her son’s abilities instead of his disabilities.
Next, Sharon told us how her family was handling things, and how her husband broke down in relief when their second son was born healthy. She also told us of her her disabled sons ability to understand things greater than to express himself.
The conversation continued about her son requiring 24/7 care. Sharon also acknowledged that her mission field was at home, and that they weren’t just dealing with her son’s body, but his spirit. Next, she gave an amazing testimony of her son’s acceptance of Christ while watching a Christian music video. Finally, She read a poem from another mom whose child has a disability. The poem was entitled, Welcome to Holland, written by Emily Perl Kingsley. Listen in and hear more about it!
