Bounce Back and Build Resilience in Recovery

Posted By: lorilynngreene On:

On today’s Recovery Now, Jen Lever joined Lori to talk about bouncing back from challenges and building resilience in recovery. They started off talking about falling back into old patterns in our behavior, and being careful what we think about. The continued about an article on resilience from Rick Warren, and how we tend to feel alone in our mistakes. Jen added how we need to change how we look at things from making ourselves pay for mistakes to forgiving ourselves and moving forward.

Next, they talked about how to respond instead of condemning our self, but instead taking progressive steps in the right direction. “Practice makes progress”, said Lori. She added how our past doesn’t have to determine our future. She then shared what holds people back from making progress is how they think and their emotions. Jen then gave us an example of someone who had a lung transplant and how she spoke what she wanted to see when she was weak. They gave an analogy of how addiction happens, and the difficulty of changing the pattern. Finally, they told us how faith can change everything. Listen in and hear more about it.
