On today’s Personal Safety, Master Trainer of Defensive Strategies, Bob Boilard, joined Lori to discuss Training to Prevent Firearm Accidents. They started off telling us about the reality that law enforcement, FBI, and Security Guards rarely have necessary firearm training. They shared about the recent FBI agent who’s firearm discharged due to his negligence in handling it properly once it dropped from his holster on the dance floor. Bob then told us New hampshire’s minimum qualifications for law enforcement.
Next, Bob continued about a man who stored his guns in an oven because children were coming over. He didn’t know his wife would be baking that morning. He ended up being shot. Bob then encouraged us to look at these accidents as teachable moments if you’re considering becoming a firearm owner. He also highlighted the importance of pre-programming our subconscious in training, situational awareness, deescalation, knowing the law, and the potential consequences of not properly training.
