Recovery Through Grace and Faith, Not Law

Posted By: lorilynngreene On:

On today’s Recovery Now, Jen Lever joined Lori to discuss recovery through grace and faith, and not the law. They started off talking about how everyone has issues with addiction of some kind, and how spiritual people can help restore them, but not from an attitude of being better. Jen told us it has to be motivated by love in a spirit of humility to avoid driving people further into addiction through shame and guilt. She also said the goal is to save them not to prove you’re right, because God wants to restore them.

Next, the conversation continued about how to have the victory, and how trying not to do something doesn’t work. Rather, it’s in seeing something better we lose the desire for the other. They expounded about having a continual state of relationship with God. They talked about the difference between grace and the law, and they shared Scriptures to bring other important points. They also discussed the flaws of the current rehabilitation system, and highlighted a Ted Talk about the importance of connection . Listen in and hear more about it.
