On today’s Recovery Now, Jen Lever joined Lori to talk about the power of forgiveness and love in recovery. They started off how much they’ve learned in their 93 episodes. “We’re all recovering back to the way God intended us to be”, said Jen. They shared how many times people do what seems right, and they categorize things, but God does things differently. They also told us how God’s answer is always the same thing.
Next, Jen told us how God recently showed her what real forgiveness looks like, when she thought she had forgiven, but didn’t realize the deep hurts still present in her heart. She gave an example of Stephen in the Bible, and how he responded like Jesus. They then illustrated how to pray from the motive of love and humility instead of from our own pain if we want to be effective in helping people recover their life.
The conversation continued about being free and freeing others. They discussed how believing lies doesn’t help anyone. They defined sin and repentance and how these terms are often misunderstood. They also told us seeing with God’s eyes is seeing people in their possibility and not their sin. They then touched on spiritual life vs death, and the true love of God. Finally, Jen shared a recent testimony of helping someone connect with God and experience supernatural recovery. Listen in and hear more about it.
