On today’s Recovery Now, Jen Lever from Recovery Now, joined Lori to discuss Mindsets About The Opioid Crisis. They started off talking about how Jen heard about a cop who said “All addicts should be shot.” They continued about how we control what we think, we’re not victims, we can change our brains, and being self-aware. They highlighted how our culture uses group mentality judging far too often, and how it creates division and perpetuates lies. They added how recovery is real and possible, despite the negativity that often surrounds it.
Next, they asked us to consider the origins of opioid use and consider putting responsibility where it began. Also, to understand we don’t have the right to say anything negative unless we’ve been willing to help be part of the solution. Jen then offered insight from Dr. Caroline Leaf’s Switch On Your Brain book. Finally, they explained how important our view of God is to receive his help. Listen in and hear more about it!
