Keeping Kids Safe From Bullying

Posted By: lorilynngreene On:

Today on Personal Safety, master Trainer of Defensive Strategies, Bob Boilard, joined Lori to discuss Keeping Kids Safe From Bullying. They started off talking about how one in five students reports being bullied, according to the National Center for Educational Statistics, 2016. They also told us about a local eleven year old girl who tragically took her own life, and some say, it was a result of bullying. They also discussed how today’s society having both parents working makes it more difficult to prevent harm to children.

Next, Bob defined bullying as unwanted aggression, and a real or perceived power imbalance. He then highlighted different types of bullying: Verbal, Social, and Physical, and told us how his daughter was bullied at school. He added about the depression, anxiety, health complaints in children who are bullied, and other signs of those who might be their perpetrators. Finally, he shared how NH laws RSA 193F was meant to prevent bullying, but RSA 193F7 removes accountability for those who bully. Listen in and hear more about it!
