On today’s personal Safety, Rick Olson joined Bob Boilard of Defensive Strategies, to discuss things to consider when buying a firearm. The conversation started with Bob and Rick telling us their qualifications and training about the topic. They then touched on Constitutional rights for gun owners, and whether or not to require training. Bob added the importance of considering the physical, financial, moral, social and legal ramifications before buying a firearm.

Next, the discussion continued with good vs bad training for civilians, and the reasons never to train or buy a firearm. A strong emphasis was on the quality of training needed to be a safe firearm owner. Also, how to avoid trouble or handling trouble when it finds you. The key, we were told, is to stop the threat, but first, get away if you’re able.

Finally, the conversation highlighted being mentally prepared, reasons to buy a firearm, fear of firearms, and some firearm types and benefits. Listen in and hear more about it.
