Church Safety and Preparedness Plans

Posted By: lorilynngreene On:

On today’s Personal Safety, Bob Boilard, from Defensive Strategies, joined Lori to talk about church safety and preparedness through Sheepdog Training.  They started off talking about the recent mass shooting at The First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas on November 15, 2017. They encouraged us to focus on the root cause of the senseless act of one person that took innocent lives and not the method in which he did it. Bob then introduced Sheepdog Training, where churches can assess the risks for their congregation.

Next, They discussed some of the things training can help with. They mentioned creating a safety committee, appointing team members to protect the flock, and finding pitfalls in what churches are currently doing to avoid incidents. Also, working with first-responders, deescalation techniques, and the training necessary to do this. They then highlighted church liability, evacuation, use of force laws and child perpetrators. Listen in and hear more about it.
