On today’s Personal Safety, Bob Boilard of Defensive Strategies , and Donna Plourde of Real Life Giving, joined Lori to talk about Sex Trafficking Awareness and Prevention. The show began with Bob telling us that human trafficking takes on many forms. Basically, when anybody  is coerced or forced to do anything against their will on a regular basis.

Donna then told her story of how she was introduced to sex trafficking as modern day slavery through a national organization, Not For Sale.  She continued telling us of her research and discovered what was happening in the US and worldwide. She wasn’t finding an organization in New Hampshire, so she reconnected with an old friend who had a heart for victims of domestic violence, and also was as a counselor at CareNet. Donna then highlighted the focus of Rea Life Giving.

Lori shared excerpts from a tragic story about an Indonesian woman named, Shandra Woworuntu (BBC) who came to America after college to find work, and how she was coerced into sex trafficking and prostitution upon her arrival in the US. The conversation continued about the stigma on trafficking victims, the deceptive means by which traffickers lure them, the threats they make and how they take their identification. Listen in and hear more about preventing this modern day slavery.
