Responsible Self-Defense Vs Ignorant Gun Ownership

Posted By: lorilynngreene On:

On today’s Personal Safety, Bob Boilard from Defensive Strategies, joined Lori to discuss responsible self-defense Vs Ignorance in gun ownership. They started off telling us how some people think buying a gun makes them super human. They acknowledged that people fear guns because of what they don’t know. Lori shared her own testimony, and Bob told us about the common sense approach of his classes. They then discussed an article about superstitious self-defense, and the false sense of security people have buying a gun. Bob told us it’s about the education, and he gave examples of the ignorance of untrained gun owners.

Next, they emphasized the laws regarding those who shouldn’t have access to firearms, and how safety is first. They continued talking about the five elements of protecting ourselves: physically, mentally, financially, legally, socially, and morally. Then discussed other tools that are best used after training, knowledge of laws, and the right motive to implement violence to counter attacks. “Here’s how you know you’re taking it seriously, you’re taking classes”, said Lori. They also told us how alcohol and firearms don’t mix. Finally, they shared if everyone was responsible everyone would be safe, even from violence during natural disasters. Listen in and hear more about it.
