On today’s Personal Safety, Bob Boilard from Defensive Strategies, LLC, joined Lori to discuss keeping kids safe from child abductions. They started off talking about situational awareness being important for kids, because abductions can happen fast. They then discussed a video from Joe Salads called “Abducting Children In Front of Dad.” While dad was nearby on his cellphone, the child was lured by his abductor. They also discussed the importance of knowing the emergency management programs for your kids school.
The conversation continued with safety tips for parents to educate their children about the do’s and don’ts of staying safe. They covered the importance of kids knowing basic information: name, phone number, etc., what to do if home alone, not taking shortcuts going home, telling an adult when someone makes them feel uncomfortable, internet safety and more.
Bob also shared about safety devices for kids, as well as, taking fingerprints and having DNA samples in a safe place. He then told us about some abductions that happened recently in New Hampshire. Finally, Bob shared statistics from National Center of Missing and Exploited Children, Department of Justice and Washington State Attorney General. Listen in and hear more about it.
