On today’s Personal Safety, Master Trainer of Defensive Strategies, Bob Boilard, joined Lori to discuss Awareness and Safety From Gangs. They started off talking about local and national gangs, some even trademarked and incorporated with websites. They gave us insight to why anyone would join a gang, the breakdown of the family, lack of parental supervision, and the need for a sense of belonging. Bob then told us about one of the most violent gangs, MS-13 that started in Los Angeles, and has become one of the most notorious.
Next, they discussed gang on gang violence, drug cartels, and how some of the gangs started in prisons. Bob then gave us statistics of gangs in America, and they expounded on MS-13’s origins. They added about their history, drug smuggling and trafficking. They talked about the current border situation, and how Mexico is now discussing policing their southern border. Bob told us a lot of countries have corrupt governments and no economic or military recourse.
